Travel Advisory: Coronavirus on 28 January 2020

BANGKOK, 28 January 2020 : Thailand raised its health protection operation to the highest level in line with guidelines announced by the World Health Organization to safeguard travelers wellbeing.

Thailand’s Prime Minister has assured that the country has taken full control of the outbrake of Novel Coronavirus 2019 (2019-nCoV) in the country through concerted efforts by authorities concerned.

Meanwhile, Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health has reassured visitors and residents that the highest level of checks and preventive measures are in place at all international airports.

Infrared Thermo scan units at Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Krabi International Airports operate round-the-clock screening of all passengers, especially flights from Chinese cities.

Thailand has an active surveillance and screening system for disease control thanks to its experience in dealing with medical conditions; such as SARS, MERS, avian flu and others.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports also issued advisories to tour agencies and airlines instructing them to monitor and scale up checks to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all visitors to the country.

Thailand has also activated a comprehensive surveillance protocol to ensure the screening of travellers arriving from identified high-risk areas as well as introducing preventative measures through public and private health services and communities across the country.

Hotels and residences are included in the surveillance procedures, even though all reported cases were infected outside of Thailand. Compliance with international recommendations is a priority to deal with the virus outbreak. Collaboration with local people, travel agents, tour operators, hotels and residence owners has been achieved to ensure we have implemented effective prevention and control measures in place to safeguard all visitors.

TCEB reassures business travellers that they can visit the country and is confident that all measures are in place to ensure their health safety and wellbeing.

All travellers receive a Health Advisory Card from health officers at the international health checkpoint upon arrival in Thailand.
