The house’s notable historical details include its high open basement and hipped roof, and front porches on two sides. The house was the former residence of Khun Ratawut Wijan, district chief of Muang Klai district. Khun Ratawut’s descendants renovated the building and converted it into a museum and cultural centre showcasing the way of life and culture of Nakhon Sri Thammarat. The high basement is the ideal location of a lovely sit-down private lunch.

    Visit Thailand’s first shadow puppet museum at National Artist (native performance) Suchart Supsin’s Shadow Puppet House. The venue has been the recipient of two Thailand Tourism Awards: in 1996 in the category of outstanding cultural attraction or ancient site, and in 1999 for educational recreational attraction. Exhibits include more than 100-year-old shadow puppets from the South, other shadow puppets from around the country and puppetry equipment. The venue is a regular host for local and international puppetry performances.
