2. Tax incentives for the organisation of MICE events 

A cabinet resolution formally approved a tax deduction of up to two times the event expenses for MICE organisers. The deduction applies to all kinds of events, whether they are seminars, exhibitions or trade shows, and organisers can claim the event expenses between 15 July and 31 December 2022.

The Revenue Department regularly updates the rules, methods, and conditions for income tax exemptions for monies paid out for seminar fees, room expenses, transportation costs, and other expenses as follows:

• Seminar room fees refers to expenses charged by the seminar venue operator for use of the space, plus food and beverage charges. 
• Other expenses related to training and seminars refers to management expenses, speaker’s fees, materials and equipment such as documents, photocopying costs, audio and video recordings, and the event’s media-related expenses.  
• Companies or juristic entities that organise training programmes or seminars to increase the knowledge or expertise of their employees must present the relevant documentation to the assessor to support their claims. 
• In the event that a company or juristic entity pays a tour operator for expenses relating to the training seminar, they must provide evidence that such operator is duly registered.
• Companies or juristic entities exercising their right to income tax exemption under Clause 4 must not exercise their income tax exemption rights in the Royal Decree issued under the Revenue Code on Tax Exemptions (No. 437) in 2005.

3. Event and Venue Standards 

TCEB joined with the Event Creative Business Association and the Rama Gardens Hotel to organise the sixth ‘TMVS Partnership Program’ last July. The event was an opportunity for MICE venues certified by the Thailand MICE Venue Standard (TMVS) to meet with organisers of events whether they are on-site or hybrid events, plus government and private agencies who use MICE-related services. It was an opportunity to network, build business relationships, and strengthen all aspects of the country’s MICE business. 

The Rama Gardens Hotel has been operating for more than 40 years and is conveniently located on 25 acres on Vibhavadi Rd. with easy access to the Bangkok SRT’s Red Line, and Don Muang Airport. The hotel boasts a number of accreditations including SHA Extra+, Green Hotel, TMVS AMVS, and Hotel Standard 4-star rating. The hotel features many function rooms appropriate for all kinds of meetings and events, including the Cattleya Room, the Grand Ballroom, and the Convention Hall which can accommodate over 1,000 guests. The hotel’s facilities include more than 512 guest rooms, a sports complex that is free for guests’ use and available for Bt3,000 per month for non-guests, plus Chinese and Japanese restaurants whose menus feature many dishes with ingredients grown in the hotel’s own garden, including the delicious fried bananas.
