Bangkok Entertainment Week 2016 (BEW 2016) is jointly organized by the private-sectored top entertainment organizers which are Kantana Group Co., Ltd. and PPW Interactive Co., Ltd. - the organizer of Thailand Comic Con 2016, Bangkok ACM Siggraph (BASA), Thai Game Software Industry Association (TGA), Thai Animation and Computer Graphics Association (TACGA), e-Learning Association of Thailand (e-LAT), Digital Content Association Thai (DCAT) - the organizer of Bangkok International Digital Content Festival 2016, BEC-Tero True Visions – the organizer of Bangkok Comic Con 2016, J.P.Toys Co., Ltd. – the organizer of Thailand Toy Expo 2016, and seven public organizations which are Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Culture, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB)
BEW 2016 is held to promote Bangkok, Thailand as a hub of entertainment business and digital content in ASEAN. It is the second consecutive year staging BEW, since the private and public sectors have foreseen business opportunities and potential growth in entertainment business and digital content locally and internationally, therefore Bangkok Entertainment Weeks could perform as a platform to establish Thailand’s competitiveness in entertainment and digital content businesses.
Bangkok Entertainment Weeks gathers up four events related to entertainment industry and digital content; namely Bangkok Comic Con 2016, Bangkok International Digital Content Festival 2016, Thailand Comic Con 2016 and Thailand Toy Expo 2016; together with special activity of this year “Thailand Creative Showcase (TCS)”, the exhibition of Thai characters in order to promote and support Thai people’s creativity to be recognized by both local and global arena. Nowadays, entertainment and digital content industry have been continuously developing and reflecting in huge consumer demand. Bangkok Entertainment Weeks 2016 is an important milestone for Thailand in moving towards the right path; the stage to showcase digital content, potential of Thai people and our international-standard quality of works.”
Dr. Uttom added “The industry of entertainment business and digital content is growing in each year; in 2015-2016, there is an investment in network of broadband internet more than 111,200 million baht; while more than 65,000 million baht in 3G and 4G, which is the development of technology infrastructure in order to support the growth of the industrial sector.”
Bangkok is one of the potential capitals in ASEAN, the center of industrial businesses especially entertainment business whether it is film or digital content over the past few years. Bangkok is a big market fulfill with quality business of film industry, music industry, animation industry, and online PC games which can entice new businesses on this land of smile. This will generate multiple effect and cause power-driven economy to the industry itself and to tourism industry such as hospitality and service sectors. Therefore, Bangkok Entertainment Weeks 2016 is become one of the event platform to transform Bangkok as entertainment and digital content business city.
