TCEB MOVES FAST TO IMPLEMENT THAILAND’S MICE UNITED II

Bangkok – 12 May 2015 – The Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB, is moving fast to implement the Thailand’s MICE United II campaign to strengthen Thailand’s position as the premiere destination for MICE events in order to serve the forthcoming AEC integration. Establishing new partnership with the Royal Thai Army Tourism Organization, TCEB expects the collaboration to help promote the domestic MICE events in the Royal Thai Military tourism destinations. The inaugural launch of new destination was initiated at the Royal Thai Military tourism destination at Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy in Nakhon Nayok province.

Mr Nopparat Maythaveekulchai, President of Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB, disclosed that “The Thailand’s MICE United campaign has identified key strategies for both international and domestic markets through strategic collaboration with the industry and non-industry partners. Specifically, the D-MICE market will see the expansion of cooperation with the Royal Thai Army Tourism Organization at the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy by which is the 10th alliance of this campaign. TCEB aims to boost domestic meetings and seminars activities within the royal Thai military tourism destination to implement relevant government policyand respond to D-MICE business promotion policy of TCEB set for 2015.


The Royal Thai Military tourism destination at the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy also demonstrates readiness to host meetings, seminars, trainings, team buildings, and CSR activities, as well as pre- or post-tour programs. The promotion of the Royal Thai Military tourist destinations throughout the country will help provide alternatives for the domestic MICE travellers, complimenting the five MICE cities, including Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Khon Kaen, and other high potential cities across Thailand.


Mr Nopparat further explained that “The TCEB’s local media familiarisation trip, which will be held during 12-13 May 2015, is the auspicious beginning between TCEB and business partner like the Royal Thai Army Tourism Organization. During the two-day event, we are bringing members of the press to experience MICE event held at the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy, Nakhon Nayok province, for which has capability to serve MICE events, such as meeting venues and accommodation, as well as tourist attractions located within the college, including the statue of His Majesty King Rama V, the 100-year museum building, exhibition of the Royal Thai Army and the Shrine of Chao Pho Khun Dan. Moreover, recreational programmes are available to serve MICE travellers, such as shooting range, golf course, billiards game, karaoke, as well as adventurous activities, including rock climbing, 34-metre tower jump, gun shooting and kayaking. In addition, team building activity can be arranged to promote rapport and team working, side by side with CSR activity within the tourism area.”

TCEB expects that the number of MICE travellers visiting the royal Thai military tourism destinations and the Royal Projects for MICE events in the fiscal year of 2015 will reach 5,000. TCEB has allocated a total budget of 5,000,000 baht for organisers from public and private sector to support transportation expense to the Royal Thai Military tourist destinations. For example, air travel for MICE travellers of 20 persons or more can apply for allowance of no more than 1,000 baht per person, while coach travel or van travel for MICE travellers of 50 persons or more can apply for allowance of no more than 500 baht per person. The support is available from now until 30 September 2015.


“Marketing promotional and public relations activities under the Thailand’s MICE UNITED have been running for the second year, along with the differentiation of MICE activities and the launch of interesting D-MICE boosting packages. All of which have played a vital role in empowering domestic MICE industry. In overall, MICE market will see 11,713,212 MICE travellers within half of the fiscal year 2015 (October 2014-March 2015) in which will generate the revenue of 43,584.61 million baht, while the D-MICE business has targeted 15.23 million MICE travellers for which will generate the revenue of 33,069 million baht.” concluded Mr Nopparat.

Joining hands with the mutual objective in empowering Thai MICE business to serve the AEC integration, the Thailand’s MICE United is the collaboration between 10 organisations, including Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, the Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association (RSTA), the Bangkok Riverside Marketing Partnership, Thailand Incentive and Convention Association (TICA), the Thai Exhibition Association (TEA), True Corporation Public Company Limited, Bangkok Mass Transit System Public Company Limited (BTS) and, the newest partner, Royal Thai Army Tourism Organization. Activities prepared under the roadmap for the Quarter 3 and 4 comprise road show in Berlin, Germany / TCEB International Media Familiarisation Trip for members of international press in Thailand and road show in China. Thailand’s MICE Award Charity Dinner will also be held to initiate participation of MICE entrepreneurs through CSR activities held by the end of the year.

Additional Information: Marketing Promotional Packages for 2015

1) DMI Package, designed for meetings and incentives segment, provides support for meetings and incentives group of 50, but not more than 100, in terms of gifts and premiums, while a group of more than 100 will receive budget support from 100,000-150,000 baht, which is not more than 7 percent of total cost of the event.

2) DC Package, designed for 1-full day seminar group, provides budget support from 100,000-200,000 baht for the holding of academic conference for the betterment of knowledge for institutes, organisations or Thai society.

3) D-MICE Package Campaign, provides support for meetings, training or incentives group of 20, but not more than 50, in terms of gifts or premiums, while a group of 50 or more will be supported in terms of budget for food, speakers (or expenses related to hiring speakers), transportation (land or air travel, etc.), refreshment, recreational activities and Wi-Fi internet fee, with value from 30,000-50,000 baht, which is not more than 7 percent of total cost of the event (support is available from now until 31 August 2015).

4) Package for the support of corporate clients from the CLMV economies (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam), designed to attract new customers, encourages the holding of MICE events and expects to increase more MICE travellers from CLMV economies into Thailand. A group of 30persons or more entering into Thailand for meetings and/or incentives event with a stay of 2 nights or more will receive support as follows: gifts or premiums and/or MICE Lane Service for a group of 30-100; gifts or premiums and/or MICE Lane Service and/or a traditional Thai show for a group of 101-300; gifts or premiums and/or MICE Lane Service and/or a traditional Thai show and/or allowance of no more than 500 baht per person for a group of more than 300 persons.
