Bangkok is the political, social and economic center of Thailand as well as a leading voice in Southeast Asia. Its influence in the arts, politics, fashion, education and entertainment as well as being a regional business, financial and cultural center has given Bangkok the status of a global city.

Major Asian Business Center

Bangkok is the economic center of Thailand, dominating the country's economy, and a key player in Asian business. The Stock Exchange of Thailand is located in Bangkok with over 523 listed companies.

The presence of large numbers of foreign immigrants, long-term residents and expatriate workers, particularly Chinese, Indian, Japanese and Europeans, gives Bangkok a very vibrant, cosmopolitan flavor. In essence a global city offering a wide variety of business opportunities.

Regional Headquarters

Bangkok is home to the headquarters of all Thailand's large commercial banks and financial institutions. Many multinational corporations such as Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Toyota, Philips, Sony, Shell and Tesco, to name but a few, have chosen Bangkok for their regional headquarters because the cost of operations is less than in most cities in Asia.

Key Business Areas

The most important business districts of Bangkok include Silom, Bangrak, Pinklao, Sathorn, Phetchaburi, Pathumwan, Chatuchak (new central business district), and Phra Ram 3 (new financial center). While Silom-Sathorn and Asoke are noted business centers, the Ratchadaphisek area is steadily coming on stream as an extension of Asoke. The Sukhumvit area is a mixed commercial and residential area, while Wireless Road and Chidlom have some of Bangkok's most expensive land.

World-renowned Accommodation

Hotel accommodation in Bangkok is brilliant, with its best five stars regularly earning top ten places in global hotel surveys based on quality and outstanding service. Luxury apart, Bangkok is one of the most popular cities in Asia to visit because of its enormous range of accommodation to suit all budgets and preferences, offering outstanding value for money.

Medical Hub of Asia

Bangkok offers some of the best and most affordable medical services in the world. Many private hospitals provide health care services specifically catering to foreigners. Some hospitals have developed specialized centers for cancer, heart, orthopaedics and skin, while specialty clinics offer renowned dental and cosmetic treatments.

Such is Bangkok’s renown that nearly 2 million foreign patients visit each year, spending over $1 billion for surgical treatments and health care. The attractions are high standards of treatment, technology and recuperation, friendly multi-lingual medical staff, doctors and consultants who are graduates of prestigious international medical facilities, and prices that are lower than in many other countries.
