BITEC emphasizes Thailand’s readiness in hosting international exhibition
 Thailand wonderfully succeeds in organizing exhibitions in Asia region in a satisfied level even in this year when many countries including Thailand face economic downturn plus political situations which might affect confidence and tourism industry. However, conferences and international exhibitions yield satisfactory results showing Thailand’s potential and readiness in various aspects. Firstly, Thailand is the manufacturing and export base of many main industries i.e. food, automobile, electronics, gems, processed agricultural products. Thailand is also an aviation base in Asia and has well-known hospitality among business and recreational tourists. Importantly, Thailand has readiness in exhibition venues and experienced exhibition organizers that meet international standards as in Europe, United States, Japan and Singapore. It’s no surprising that many organizations choose Thailand to be their conference and exhibition venue. Type of industries and services exhibiting here are also key factors to national economic development.Dr. Prasarn Pirachburi, CEO and Managing Director of BITEC, stated that most industries exhibited in BITEC are food and processing, automobile, gem and jewelry, printing and packaging. While the most visited exhibition are furniture and home deco, consumer product and electronic appliances. He added that visitors nowadays are increasingly interested in international exhibitions not only because they can purchase products, but also exchange knowledge with sellers and negotiate businesses. As the exhibition hosting country, we can see that the revenues derived from tourism industry will favor the overall economic as well.
Dr. Prasarn referred to the readiness of BITEC as an exhibition venue that it is as large as 50,400 square meters in 15-metre-high building with no pillar, divided into 6 interconnected chambers along with another 20 small conference rooms vary in utilization. BITEC also has international standard facilities and services as well as experienced working team and soon it can be accessed by the undertaking Orn-Nut to Baring sky train project.
It’s not surprising that during 10-year period to service this industry, BITEC is selected to be the venue of many national and regional exhibitions especially those from the international exhibition organizers such as Reed Tradex, VNU, BES,CMP, FESPA. Well-known exhibitions include Metalex, Intermach, ProPak, Gastech, VIV Asia, FESPA, Pack Print International and the world-class conferences like the 12th World Congress of Gastroenterology, the 19th World Congress of Neurology, and the 19th International Congress of Nutrition. Each welcomed more than 10,000 international visitors.
Even this venue is owned and managed by Thai, but it’s well-renowned and received a Global Operations Award provided by UFI. This guarantees the brighter future for Thailand to be a host of international conference and exhibition.
