Bangkok/ 4th January 2011 - The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organisation) or TCEB and BOI invite Thai people nationwide to express their pride in Thailand's bid to host the World Expo 2020 by visiting the 'Believe in Thailand: World Expo 2020 Pavilion' at the BOI Fair 2011. TCEB will present the multimedia light & sound show both inside and outside the Pavilion. The BOI Fair "Going Green for the Future" takes place from 5-20 January at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok, with over 100,000 visitors expected to visit the Pavilion during the event.

Mr Akapol Sorasuchart, TCEB President, disclosed: "TCEB has been assigned by the Cabinet to coordinate Thailand's bid to host the World Expo 2020, so it is important to build awareness, support and a sense of involvement among Thai people. Our participation in this BOI Fair through the 'Believe in Thailand: Expo 2020 Pavilion' is our largest preparatory activity so far. The Pavilion aims to provide knowledge and encourage all Thai people to participate in this national initiative. Most importantly, we want to work with local communities to help restore confidence in Thailand and Ayutthaya following the recent floods. During the BOI fair from 5-20 January, we expect to welcome over 100,000 visitors to the Pavilion, including business executives, investors, students, the media and the general public.

"The Expo 2020 Pavilion is held as part of TCEB's 'Believe in Thailand' initiative. The Water Pavilion design is inspired by the Aisawan Thiphya-At throne at Bang Pa-In Royal Palace, Ayutthaya, reflecting the relationship between architecture and way of life for Thai people, and their intimate bond with the river. It also aims to highlight the country's prosperity dating back to the Ayutthaya period, which is in keeping with Ayutthaya's selection as the proposed venue for the World Expo 2020. The Pavilion is occupying an area of 2,700 square metres. The building covers 800 square metres at a lakeside location close to the very centre of the Fair, and is reflected the Thai design.

"Among the highlights of the Expo 2020 Pavilion are (1) the Pavilion is reflected Thai design; (2) A Multimedia Hall will tell the World Expo story from various perspective, including Thailand's long historical connections with the event, and the success of the Thai Pavilion at past World Expo events around the world; (3) a movie theatre tells the World Expo story using state of the art multimedia effects. We are confident that the event will impress visitors, and install a sense of pride and confidence in our readiness to host the World Expo 2020; (4) A night show- which will be the Pavilion's flagship activity, will be presented in the form of a mixed media light and sound show. Multimedia mapping technology is used to project the story of Thailand's bid to host the World Expo and His Majesty the King's philosophy to sustainable livelihoods and prosperity in the country. The philosophy will pave the way for World Expo 2020 Ayutthaya to be the world's first sufficient World Expo. The show will be projected above the Pavilion building, using multimedia mapping technology for the first time in Thailand. The Night Show will be presented four times each evening from 18.00 pm onwards."

Concluding, Mr Akapol leaved: "On this 4th January, the 'Believe in Thailand: Expo 2020 Pavilion' will be premiered for media representatives and distinguished guests including the Governor of Ayutthaya, executives from the 'MICE Cities' (Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Phuket) as well as the Thailand Incentive and Convention Association (TICA), the Thai Exhibition Association (TEA), the Stock Exchange of Thailand, Thai Chamber of Commerce , as well as senior business executives and investors. In all, more than 300 distinguished guests will be there to enjoy the Pavilion and spectacular outdoor night show. The Night show will open to the public following the official opening of the BOI Fair from 5 to 20 January at Impact Muang Thong Thani, at the lakeside. The visitors can go directly to the pavilion with the door number 4. We are confident that visitors to the Pavilion will be inspired to join together with all Thai people to support Thailand's bid to host the World Expo 2020 at Ayutthaya."
